Selected by Edgar Kaufmann Jr for the groundbreaking 1949 Exhibition for Modern Living. Alexander Girard designed, organized, and curated the exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The intent was to define post war modernism for a broad audience. It had a monumental impact on generations of designers.
