Joseph Hutchcroft was born in Missouri and studied at Drake University in Iowa. He was a Chicago-based designer, writer, consultant, and graphic artist and was Manager of Design at Chicago's Container Corporation of America. He worked with famous Chicago graphic artist John Massey and designed graphics for Herman Miller and the RVI corporation, among others. Like Massey, he was also a noted artist.
